Your first gate in 60 seconds

The full walkthrough. Pick your content, set up the form, publish, share, watch leads land. Sub-minute first run.

This is the wedge. Empty dashboard to a public gated URL in less than a minute.

Shortcut: if you pasted a link or HTML into the box on the SendClaw homepage before signing up, your page is created and published for you the moment you land in the dashboard. The steps below are for starting from scratch.

1. Click "+ New document"

The big button at the top-right of your Documents page. A 3-step modal opens.

2. Pick what you're gating

Three choices on step 1:

  • PDF: upload a file up to 50 MB.
  • Embed URL: paste a link from Loom, YouTube, Notion, Canva, Figma, Tella, Vimeo, or any other URL.
  • Claude HTML: paste the HTML of a Claude artifact (or any HTML you want to put behind a form).

Not sure? Start with a PDF or a Loom link. They're foolproof.

3. Name the page

On step 2, the Name field auto-fills based on what you uploaded: the filename for PDFs, the video or page title for embeds, the artifact title for HTML. You can change it.

The Heading field is what your visitor sees at the top of the page. By default it mirrors Name, but most of the time you'll want them different. Name is for you (it shows up in your dashboard); Heading is for your visitor.

4. Optional: let AI draft the page

Step 3 has three small inputs:

  • What does this gate offer?
  • Who is it for?
  • Key features or talking points.

Click Generate + create and SendClaw writes a full first draft of your page (heading, subtitle, bullet points, feature columns, even a testimonial) and streams it into the editor while you watch. You can edit anything afterwards.

If you'd rather write it yourself, click Skip + create.

5. Land on the design canvas

You're now editing your gate. The canvas walks you through five steps in order at the top:

  1. Content: what you're gating.
  2. Gate: the form your visitor fills in. Lead capture is a Pro feature (14-day free trial); on the free plan your link shares the content openly with no form.
  3. Page: how the page looks.
  4. Share: your share URL and any UTM-tagged variants.
  5. Route: where the leads go.

Everything saves automatically. You'll see "Saved" in the header a moment after each change.

6. Publish

Top-right is the Publish pill. New documents start as Draft: they exist, but visiting the share URL shows "this page is not published yet". Drafts don't count toward your active-link limit, so you can build as many as you want.

Click Publish to flip to Live. The share URL is now public.

Open the Share step. The default share link is at the top with a copy button. The URL looks like sendclaw.io/ab12cd34, short and unguessable. On paid plans with a custom subdomain, it becomes yourbrand.sendclaw.io/..., and you can give the link a custom slug like /ai-pricing-calc.

Paid plans also get UTM variants. Make one for Twitter, one for LinkedIn, one for your newsletter. Every lead carries its UTM through to your CRM so you know which channel brought them in.

8. Watch the leads come in

Open Leads in the sidebar. Every gate submission becomes a row, grouped by contact. Click a row for the full submission history.

When someone bails after step 1, SendClaw still saves their email or phone as a partial lead so you can follow up. You don't lose half-finished forms.
